Weaving grew up moving between countries including Singapore, Fiji, Indonesia, and Australia before her family settled in Canberra. Her father, Simon Weaving, is a filmmaker and festival artistic director, and her mother works in art therapy and museum studies, so she was surrounded by the arts from a young age.
She made her TV debut as Kirsten Mulroney in the Australian soap Out of the Blue (2008), then joined long-running soap Home and Away as Indi Walker (2009–2013), earning an AACTA nomination and becoming well known to Australian audiences.
